"Benefits of Martial Arts and Aikido for Children"

Adult classes

In Aikido we suggests that there is a solution to "winners and losers", and that there is a 3rd option, or a non-competitive place where the interaction can go to.

Students are allowed and encouraged to train at their own levels and enjoy the mind-body connection. In this way one can experience life-changing benefits that improves emotional and physical well-being.

Training is in a safe and respectful manner regardless of age.

Low Impact Approach Aikido

This approach is integrated into our regular Aikido classes that still emphasizes self-awareness and self-defense techniques in Aikido without the ukemi, or rolling, that accompanies the technique.
It is geared to those martial artists who have stopped training due to injuries or just the simple fact that their bodies can no longer take “it.” Other students may be those who have worn knees, hips and various chronic injuries from long years of running or from other sports. Women may be interested in the classes because of the emphasis on the energetic content of the material being presented and the non-competitive nature of Aikido.
It is designed to reach students and potential students who are interested in Aikido but cannot train in a full impact class. A low impact approach can be adapted to the needs of each of these students without losing the essential teachings of, or most importantly, the spirit of the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba, O-Sensei.

Children's and Teen's Classes

The goal of our children's program is to instill self-confidence and self-esteem. This is taught in a safe, positive, and non-competative environment. Aikido fosters a healthy outlook, develops self-respect for others, and cultivates flexibility and coordination. It helps instill character traits of cooperation, responsibility, discipline and the development of choice making skills to be used as they grow older. Working with others in a non-competative manner is also emphasized. In this way life-skills can be learned that can be carried into adulthood.
